A full life, real demands, not enough hours.It is also sometimes something else. A way of keeping the head so full there is no space for what sits underneath. A coping mechanism that keeps us moving fast enough to stay ahead of the things we do not want to feel.The problem is it rarely works for long. The chaos compounds. The undone things accumulate. The life we are too busy to tend starts to feel like it is running us rather than the other way around.Worth sitting with: what is the busyness actually doing? Is it managing something? What would slow down feel like if we allowed it?The curious observer and the core beliefOne of the most useful things we can do is put on the Curious Observer lens and watch how often we tell ourselves we do not have time.Not to judge it. Just to notice.How many times in a day does that thought appear? What does it stop? How much of what it blocks would actually take only a few minutes? How much of the chaos is sustained by the belief that there is no time to address it?Core beliefs are not always dramatic. Sometimes they are quietly organising sentences that we have stopped noticing. I don't have time is one of the most common. It can shape an entire life without ever being examined.What changes when we challenge itSmall things done in the moment stop accumulating into large things that feel overwhelming.Washing folded directly from the dryer. Dishes dealt with before they pile. A bed made in two minutes that changes the feel of a room. These are not productivity hacks. They are small acts of attending to the life we actually want to be living.The same applies to people. The child who needs a moment of connection now, met in that moment, costs far less time and energy than managing the fallout of not being met. The conversation that happens because we sat down and did something quiet instead of rushing through. The family that gathers around an activity rather than a screen because someone slowed down enough to begin it.Time given to the things that matter tends to generate more than it costs.On neurodivergence and timeFor those of us with ADHD or other neurodivergent wiring, the relationship with time is genuinely more complex. Executive function, motivation, the need for novelty and engagement, these are not character flaws. They are real neurological differences that require different strategies.Working with the brain rather than against it matters. Finding the entry point that creates momentum. Recognising when stuck is not laziness but a signal to shift focus. Coming back to the thing that would not flow and finding it moves more easily from a different angle.We do not become neurotypical. We build a better relationship with how we actually work.Questions worth sitting withWhat core beliefs are getting in the way of living the life we want and need?Is it about time? About what we should be doing or earning or being? About how our family should function?Whatever it is, try watching it for a day through the Curious Observer lens. Not to fix it immediately.
